ESPERANZA BACK-TO-SCHOOL CLEANING BONANZA
The week of August 18 will be dedicated to preparing the school and Coleridge facilities for the new program year
beginning in September. If you have a group of coworkers or friends that are looking for an opportunity to give back to
the community and our program participants, this is the perfect chance! We need your help in beautifying Esperanza’s buildings through a deep clean.
Come ready to get your hands (and maybe your clothes) dirty!
CILA needs your help!
Sophia and Tobias Houses, Esperanza’s supervised residential homes for adults with developmental disabilities, are in need of a major
overhaul. If you have ever painted a room, or know how to use a hammer, we need your help! You can help build cabinets, or help with the yard.
There is no shortage of things to do. So bring along a friend, and help improve Esperanza’s CILA homes.
Mentoring Esperanza's Youth
Esperanza School is seeking volunteers to join the mentoring program. This program allows our students to build positive relationships with adult role
models while participating in activities that develop their social and vocational skills, and helps them build self esteem by giving back to the community.
The first element of this program is an after school activity every Thursday from 3:00-6:00 PM. Students and mentors work on arts and crafts projects with
the goal to produce items that we can sell in order to raise money for local organizations. Through these activities, participants are selected for the
second element of the program where a student and mentor volunteer together at another agency. We are looking for mentors from various backgrounds who
are interested in building relationships with students who have cognitive and emotional impairments and helping them to meet their potential.
BOARD MEMBERS
Esperanza is currently recruiting individuals to join our Board of Directors. While the agency looks for Board members with particular areas of expertise in accounting, event coordination, facilities management, fundraising, law, marketing, public relations, real estate, school administration, and strategic planning, no qualification is more important that the member’s interest and concern for people with developmental disabilities.
General expectations of board members include supporting Esperanza Community Services’ mission, policies, and strategic plan; actively serve on at least one Board Committee, and ad hoc committee as requested by the chair, and actively participate in Esperanza’s fund raising annual plan which includes making an annual gift and attending special events, programs, and activities. Volunteers will need to commit to a two year term and attend at least 75% of all board and committee meetings.
