Community Integrated Living Arrangements

Esperanza Community Services currently operates two Community Integrated Living Arrangements (CILA’s). These residences provide homes in the community where individuals with developmental disabilities live and participate in the activities of their neighbors and friends. Residents receive services based on their strengths, preferences and individual needs.

The residents are part of an interdisciplinary team, which may include family members, friends, neighbors and professionals who help monitor their program and assist them in community integration, independence in daily living skills and economic self-sufficiency.

Esperanza Community Services seeks to employ staff who are interested in sharing life experiences; individuals who potentially enter into lifelong friendships and who support the residents in meeting their goals. Together they overcome challenges and seek opportunities available in the community.

Target Areas

Any individual found eligible for CILA services by a case management agency designated by the Illinois Department of Human Services may be considered for residency in an Esperanza CILA residence.

Individuals Served

Individuals living at Sophia and Tobias House must be at least 18 years of age and have a guardian. The persons served are developmentally disabled; but must be ambulatory. There is no upper age limit.
